Spaghetti Bolognese

Servings: 4-6

Ingredients

  • 750g minced beef
  • 4 slices bacon
  • 1 medium onion, minced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tomatoes, diced
  • 1 can diced tomatoes
  • 1 can tomato paste
  • 2 cups chicken stock (or 2 tsp chicken stock powder + 2 cups water)
  • 1/3 cup cooking wine
  • 1 Tbsp Italian seasoning
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 Tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • Pasta noodles
  • Parmesan cheese
  • Salt and pepper

Directions

  1. Brown the minced beef over medium heat – don’t cook it all the way through, just browned. Set aside. Remove excess oil.
  1. In the same pan, fry up the bacon with onion and garlic. Once fragrant, add in the rest of the ingredients (tomatoes, tomato paste, chicken stock, cooking wine, Italian seasoning, paprika, sugar). Mix well.
  2. Add back in the beef mince and combine. Bring to a simmer and simmer for 1 hour on low heat until the sauce thickens.
  3. In the mean time, cook the pasta noodles according to package instructions.
  4. Once the pasta sauce is done, adjust salt and pepper and sugar to taste. Add in the pasta noodles and sprinkle with Parmesan cheese before serving.
